How do I pay my taxes?

The ways to pay your tax bill have changed throughout the years, and electronic payment has become the norm. We recommend paying through your banking institution's online portal. If you require assistance, please contact your bank, as the steps to follow vary by institution. Alberta corporate tax can be paid to the TRA through this link to their payment page.

Option 1:
Online

Through your bank

Personal taxes can generally be paid by adding the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a payee through your online banking service. Searching for "CRA" should bring up the Agency as a suggested payee, and once added, you will be able to make a payment to them.

Corporate taxes (T2, GST) can be paid through an online filing and payment service that most major banks offer for registered business accounts. They may charge a fee for this service. If you need assistance with paying your corporate taxes, please contact your bank.

You will need to know your Business Number (BN), and the period for which you are making the payment. The period for T2 taxes will be your fiscal year-end, and the period for your GST may vary.

A corporation with taxes payable for a fiscal year ending April 30, 2024 should make a payment for the period of 2024-04-30. If instalments are required to be paid for the next fiscal year, the instalment payments should be made for the period of 2025-04-30.

Option 2:
CRA My Payment

The CRA offers an online payment service that accepts certain payment methods. Please navigate to the site through this link and follow the given instructions.

Through the CRA

Option 3:
In Person

At your bank branch

Your bank can assist you with payment at their physical branch. You will need your Notice of Assessment, which you will receive after filing your return, as well as a remittance voucher. The CRA has stopped sending remittance vouchers by default. If you would like to make your payment in person, please contact us and we will request remittance vouchers for you.

Option 4:
Cheque

By mail

Make your cheque out to the Receiver General for Canada. Include your Social Insurance Number for personal taxes or Business Number and your corporation's fiscal year-end (999999999RC0001, 2024-04-30 for an April 30 year end) for corporate taxes, as well as the total amount payable to the CRA. Mail your cheque to:

Winnipeg Tax Centre

PO Box 14000, Stn Main

Winnipeg, MB

R3C 3M3

The CRA will credit the account when they receive the cheque, so send it early!
